2020 Junior Americas Cup – Preview
The Northern Nevada Junior Golf Association and the Junior America’s Cup Executive committee announced that Genoa Lakes Golf Club – Lakes Course, in Genoa, Nevada, will be the host venue for the 2020 Junior America’s Cup.
The 2020 competition will mark the 48th year of the Junior America’s Cup championship and the Second time it will be held in Northern Nevada and Lake Tahoe. The event will take place from July 26th– 30th. The previous time the event was hosted in Southern Nevada was 2003 at Rio Secca Golf Club, in Henderson, Nevada. Team Oregon took the team title while current PGA Tour Player Kevin Chappell (Northern California) took medalist honors.
Genoa Lakes Golf Club, Lakes Course, is located just south of Carson City, Nevada. Co-designed by PGA Champion Peter Jacobsen and John Harbottle III, the links-style course with rolling fairways meets heads-on with the eastern slopes of the breathtaking Sierra Nevada Mountains. Lush wetlands and the winding Carson River bring water into 14 holes of play, making long, strait drives the order of the day. The Lakes Course annually hosts the local US Open Qualifier in Northern Nevada.

In hosting the 2020 competition, Genoa Lakes Golf Club will join a list of other prestigious venues to play host to the Junior America’s Cup that includes the likes of Pebble Beach (California), Sahalee (Washington), Wailalae (Hawaii) and Shaughnessy Golf & Country Club (British Columbia). Each of these venues, among others have played host to the elite competition over the past 47 years which has featured some of the most notable names in the professional game today taking part.
